BobT-47P15 Posted October 22, 2007 Report Posted October 22, 2007 While out driving around Sunday afternoon, we happened onto this vehicle following a nearby car show. We did not attend the show.....it was over by the time we passed by the location in Oklahoma. The owner, from Vinita, OK, says there were only (i forget which) 100 or 150 of these dealer added wood kits sold back then. Says this one is an original deal. Designed to compete with other companies' woodies. This car had 6.70 x 15 inch tires......the 47's came out with 16 inch......so that part is not totally original. Evidently the wood was attached with screws. Owner said this is supposed to be how they came. He said it got the "best of show" award. Must be it lying on the floor. Quote
Phil Martin Posted October 22, 2007 Report Posted October 22, 2007 Looks like the same one that was offered at the branson auction Sat. I went out for a minute and didn't see if it sold or how much. Quote
claybill Posted October 23, 2007 Report Posted October 23, 2007 a pretty wimpy trophy! for best of show. there was a maroon one 5 years ago at the cedar rapids show. i inquired and was told you ahve to make the wooden slats yourself...any good woodworker can do it. but that's not me. wow! would a 41 ply coupe look sharp with woody sides....oooooh here i go again. thats a worthwhile project!!! even at 71! bill aka claybill Quote
