I have 2 1947 plymouth coupes and need to find a fatory bolt on upgrade for the front suspention.  a upper and lower control arm with a 2 inch drop spendal and a disk brake upgrade and coil overs.  manual or power steering.  i dont see the need to cut the the front off and to pull the motor when there are already mounts.  any help on this would be much appreciated this is for a father son twin cars

Welcome aboard...........not sure I understand what you want...........there is NO factory upgrade as such although with a bit of fiddling around you can upgrade the front suspension by relocating the upper shock mount using either Frod F1 or Mopar 50's style front shock brackets and longer shocks......the front sway bar can be replaced I think with either Dakota or Cherokee sway bars, dropped spindles are available from Fatman however lowered coil springs will do a similar job..........there are a couple of disc brake adaptions available, Scarbird is one that comes to mind...........as for the steering upgrades a good rebuilt stock steering box will work fine tho' it may be an issue witha V8 swap, then you maybe looking at a cavalier centre steer rack or offsetting the V8 to the passenger side.........I have ran a 318 poly, cast iron torqueflite and 4wheel discs, rack & pinion, etc since 1973 so it is doable but there are not a lot of "1800 bolt in" things available.........and as I'm in Australia what I've done will not be available in the USA however I'd suggest do a complete search thru the various threads on this forum and you'll be surprised as to whats available..............have attached a couple of pics of my 1940 Dodge...............again, welcome aboard from Oz.......Andy Douglas

Thank you for the welcome.  i have ordered the 3"drop from fatman thinking of getting shorter springs but i dont know if it would be top low.? i have a 318 in her it needs some help.  and upgrading to eci disk breaks.  wish they made a upper and lower control arms with an updated spindles that bloted in the fatory mounts.

The stock upper & lower A arms could be cleaned up a bit I suppose but I have replaced the stock 1940 uppers with MOOG cast steel A arms which were designed to replace the 1941-1954 stamped steel arms.......the MOOG ones should be still around tho' I've had mine since the mid 70's........drop spindles will bring the front down but here in Oz are a no go as far as the registration goes, I've got mid 50's Ford coils with 1 coil taken out, 1" thick heim jointed sway bar and narrowed Austin 1800 rack & pinion steering & 11" vented discs.......also did the upper shock mount relocation but not overly happy with the result so may redo it........ ....see pic........andyd
