Mark H Posted March 25, 2020 Report Posted March 25, 2020 How do I remove the lock cylinders on my '50 DeSoto? Quote
Lloyd Posted March 25, 2020 Report Posted March 25, 2020 Dont know about a 50 Desoto but my 39 Plymouth had a hole in the edge of the door where a screw was threaded down onto the lock cylinder to hold it in place. If thats the case for yours be careful. After a day of trying to get it out I ended up drilling and re-tapping. Quote
DonaldSmith Posted March 25, 2020 Report Posted March 25, 2020 For the S-13 and S-14 models, there is a "latch pate" in the edge of the door. Look for a slot just next to the weatherstripping. The manual says to bend a screwdriver end to 90 degrees, for pulling the latch plate toward the edge of the door, releasing the cylinder. Installation of the cylinder requires pushing a long pilot needle through the trim panel, to guide the lock shaft through the opening. (The shop manual helps make this clear.) Quote
DonaldSmith Posted March 26, 2020 Report Posted March 26, 2020 Good job! We're so proud of you! Seriously, good job. Quote
