JSabah Posted January 7, 2020 Report Posted January 7, 2020 Trying to install new keyed locks for the front doors of the 49 Plymouth. The new cylinders that I purchased (ad stated that they were correct for the year) doesn't allow me to remove the key after 180 deg turn, but rather only after making a full rotation. The problem is that the latch system doesn't allow for 360 deg only 180..... so if I install what I have with the car unlocked, when I go to lock it, I will not be able to remove the key. Am I missing something here? THank you Quote
D Cienega Posted January 8, 2020 Report Posted January 8, 2020 On my cylinder I had to install some key lubricant and got it working before installing on my car . To lock my 48 Plymouth I have go from 12:00 to 9:00 back to 12 or Left / right , hope this helps Quote

I had the mechanism all the way turned. I set it in the middle and now 1/4 turn one way locks and the other-way (from 12) unlocks. Mystery solved and I'm pressing on. Thank you! Quote
