I will post more later I plan on pulling engine this winter, I have a frost plug leaking in the back, will clean the engine up and paint & install all the Langdon Stovebolt stuff at that time maybe even a alunimun head. I can't deside on 6 or 12 volt, fuses would be cool, but so is old school 6 volt any input?

I run 6 volt and I'm happy with it. I have the large size battery cables and it starts fine, at least in my mild climate. Headlights are bright. I have 12 volt negative ground power available for accessories from a good step-up converter. I'm glad I stayed with 6V.

One drawback, 6 volt requires heavier wire and very good grounds/connections for things like lights and signals. I've had to clean up my tail/stop/turn sockets and grounds twice to keep things bright. 6 volt electrical parts are mostly still abundant, and the old stuff is also made to be rebuildable.

One thing I see with some 12 volt negative ground conversions. Not all, but a lot of people who converted have come up with one gremlin or another, A number of the converted cars for sale on ebay mention a 12 volt conversion, everything works great except the (fill in the blank).

norm I have a 6 volt optima now with big cables and it starts great. but my headlights are dim I guess I need to check my grounds. I guess also the no fuse thing worked for this long with some new wires it should work for many more years. what about the electric chokes I have on langdons duel carbs? will one of those converters run that and say maybe a radio? the only thing that dont work now on my car is the fuel gauge it works off and on probably just bad wires A.

Sometimes just a fresh set of headlight bulbs and cleaning up the contacts can help a lot. If you do your own replacement of the 6 volt stuff you can add your own fuse block.

The converter puts out 6 amps max at 12 volts, good for a stereo, phone charger, whatever small stuff you have. Not sure what the electric chokes draw. Might be a lot if they use resistance coils. I connected mine to to a triple cig lighter outlet and I run my XM boombox, some 12V LED lights, cellphone charger no sweat.
