Adjusting D24 rear end ride height

Has anyone here dropped the rear end ride height? What would be the easiest way to go?

I'd like to ride a couple of inches lower, the car would also look better that way... to me.

Should not be too hard, since the rear axle is on top of the leaf package in a D24. Still there will be things to know and prepare for, I'm sure.

Is there a guide pin inside the leaf spring pack?

Are there spacers available for the job or does anyone have patterns made?

Do I need new U-shackles (there seems to be couple of inches free end in the factory units, but can I use all the lenght?)

I have 1-1/2" lowering blocks on the rear of my 47 now. I got them from Night Prowlers "NightProwlers" <garyglasgow@tiadon.com>. They are a little hard to find because you need 1-3/4" wide blocks instead of the more standard 2-1/4" wide.

I wound up with 1-1/2" tall by 1-3/4" wide lowering blocks and a set of 2-3/4" U-bolts (inside dimension); cost me a litlle over $60 with shipping for everything. Gary may have other heights available as well.

Thanks Gentlemen!

Dennis' Club Coupe looks just right with the 2" blocks.

Marty, is your '47 a Plymouth, Dodge or...? Got a picture to post?

Nightprowlers web site does not list the lowering blocks by dimensions or by make, does it? Did you call them to find out the sortiment?

Price is reasonable - I'll probably go shopping there...

My 47 is a Plymouth Business Coupe. The only photos I have right now are older ones before I put the rear lowering blocks in; still had a bit of a rake then!

I simply emailed the address that I listed and discussed it with him; he asked for some dimensions, I checked them. The details I listed were what I wound up ordering for my Plymouth.
