RickB Posted October 5, 2018 Report Posted October 5, 2018 Does anyone have the frame measurements for a 1940 Plymouth 2 door and a 1946 Plymouth 4 door. Looking to see if the front frames are the same width to graft the good 46 front end on to the rusty front of the 40. Thanks for any help. Quote
Andydodge Posted October 6, 2018 Report Posted October 6, 2018 I have a 1936-1942 Oz shop manual, a 1946 to 1953 Oz shop manual and a US 1946 to 1953 shop manual..............the following specs are.......... At the Firewall mount................1940 40& 1/2 " At the firewall mount .................1946-48 40 & 17/32" Front edge of the 1940 Chassis to the firewall mount .....................34 & 11/32" 1946 front bumper bar bolt hole to firewall mount ..........................37 & 7/32" 1940 Chassis width at the very front of chassis, outside to outside.......... 35" 1946 Chassis width at the very front of chassis, outside to outside............34" note that the books I have show that the measurements appear to be made at the centre of bolt or mount holes respectively............the chassis appear and are obviously different, the 1940 has an "X" style crossmember, whilst from 1942 the chassis becomes a perimeter style, however the firewall forward is similar but as you would be aware, not the same, but it should be doable if you have good fabrication and welding skills...........lol............does this help?...............andyd Quote
