What Thermostat Should I Use?????

I have looked through the archives of this forum and yet have not found an answer to my problem. I am replacing the head on my 42 Dodge truck. My question is can a modern thermostat be used. Say for a slant 6 in replacement for the original. Below is a picture of the original thermostat.
