Guest tagree01 Posted August 13, 2007 Report Posted August 13, 2007 Hey guys, I need to replace my 6V generator with a 12V alternator on my '40 Dodge coupe (218). Is there one I can buy off the shelf that I won't have to rig up a bunch of spacers to align with the belt? Also maybe one already set up for a wide fan belt? Thanks, Tom Quote

Thanks, Tom In a word, NO. but you can buy an alternator from someplace like the 5th Avenue Garage (785) 632-3450, where they can supply you with a mounting kit and the correct pulley. Not cheap, but it will work! Marty Quote
bobby horne Posted August 14, 2007 Report Posted August 14, 2007 I put a 12 volt generator and regulator, from a 1956 dodge, on my 38 plymouth. Has been working good for over 10 years... Quote
