p24-1953 Posted October 21, 2017 Report Posted October 21, 2017 What are the consequences/ effects of using a carb. from a 201 on a 230? My current carb is taged d6a2 which is for a 39 plymouth 201, but the block is a 48 dodge 230. Will i see any change in drivabilty/ power if i switch to the proper carb? Quote
1949 Wraith Posted October 21, 2017 Report Posted October 21, 2017 My 1938 Dodge has the original Stromberg carb and intake manifold that was on the original 201. The engine has been upgraded to an 228 with a split exhaust manifold. I have an Edmunds dual intake with some later model Carters, but the car runs great, starts right up with a touch of the starter in all conditions with the Stromberg, that I can't bring myself to change it. One thing with the 1938 intake manifold and Stromberg is that the throat is smaller, so the intake manifold will not accept the later larger Carter carbs. I am not sure if this is the case with your 39 Carter carb. Quote
