M.Klapp Posted August 18, 2017 Report Posted August 18, 2017 Hey Guys, Anyone know a good engine builder in NC? Preferably in the Charlotte-ish area. Thinking about pulling the ole 251 and having her overhauled. M.Klapp Quote
M.Klapp Posted August 24, 2017 Author Report Posted August 24, 2017 Anyone? Or, anyone willing to help me rebuild the ole 251? M.Klapp Quote
WarriorDog Posted August 24, 2017 Report Posted August 24, 2017 Surely, being so close to Charlotte, there has to be some awesome engine builders in the area. I'm thinking there's something NASCAR at every other exit off the Interstates. Chattanooga's not TOO FAR away? This is the only shop left standing around here that will work on old engines. They wont work on any of the newer stuff. All pre-1985 work? https://www.facebook.com/pages/Roberts-Sons/155316984504373 Of Course , you can see it's a machine shop and not a showroom. They've been THE place to have engine machine work done around here for years. They resurfaced the head on my 218 a couple of months ago. https://www.google.com/search?q=roberts+and+sons+machine+shop&oq=Roberts+and+sons+&aqs=chrome.2.69i57j0l5.7399j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8 Quote

Problem is a good portion are shysters. Some think everyone is a big time racer and want to charge $10k and 8 months to rebuild anything. And, as soon as they hear its "something special" they double the cost. I've dealt with a couple and have been less than impressed. Figured I'd throw the question out here and see if anyone had a recommendation. I know of one guy, but he's not really a builder, he's my cam guy Thanks, M.Klapp 1 Quote
