I ordered dust caps for the front spindles from Roberts. It must be the full set for the upper and lower arms. I really didn't need all of those. The ones for the spindles themselves seem somewhat smaller than the ones I had before. Getting the upper ones in is a real pain because they bind as you push them into the control arm. I ended up using the old ones. They were OK. Drilling and tapping was $75.00. Seemed fair. Now for the parts from Old Daddy and I can continue with the Disc Conversion. Eric

Eric;

When you say dust cap are you talking about the 1" welsh plugs pictured below that cap off both the top and bottom of the king pin? I bought these plugs from a local automotive machine shop for about twenty five cents each.

Don, the dust caps are between the contol arm and the spindle. The long bolt with the zirt that runs through the control arm and the spindle. The rubber dust caps ride between the control arm and the spindle. I am probably not being very clear. I think their only purpose is to keep dirt out of the threads. Eric

This may help define the part you are referring to:

If you are referring to the rubbers 20,21 and 41, 43. I had a bit of a time with them, but some fiddling and swearing and they went in. Soaking in boiled water for 10 minutes helped loosen them up a bit.

Pat, Looking at your photo, the ones I took off of my car were over the hex nut shaped portion of the spindle (towards the top and left). That doesn't mean that someone before me had them on correctly. They don't seem critical atleast as a safety issue. It is probably important over time. Again much thanks. Eric
