Hi all, can I unbolt the bell housing, support rear of engine from underneath, then remove bell housing with clutch and flywheel in place. I would prefer to leave them in, until I got the bell housing off. Or do I need to take the clutch out first, then bell housing, then flywheel. That would'nt be bad either. I have the floor panel out, so if the housing was off, the flywheel would be easy to remove, then I can replace the leaking freezeplug.......Fred ps I probably asked this before, just want to get it straight before the job starts

The bellhousing must be removed by lifting it up and over the flywheel If engine out of car can be done with clutch in. And if you have enough room you will be able to get housing up and over flywheel. I can send pic of back of housing tomorrow so you Can see problem And do not forget to separate the housing from the locating pins or what I Call dowel pins on either side of the back of the engine

Also in looking at the situation I suspect you will need to remove the radiator disconnect the oil pressure line the carb linkage at the [pedal shaft and the exhaust at the manifold then lower and move froward the engine. Lot of work but I do not believe it will come out otherwise.

I have been able to get the housing off without pushing the pins into the block or the housing but it is close. I put a flat screwdriver between the block and the housing and tap it to get the separation from the pin on each side the maneuver the housing out. It is close but i have done it several times
