Need some help here I am trying to remove the front of the differential on my 51 Meadowbrook and I'm wondering if I need to pull the axles To get the front off?  I've Removed the Carter pin and flange nut that hold the sleeve that connects to the drive shaft.I can't seem to get the collar off the front that the flange that holds down.  I've got the bolts off of the pumpkin that hold the front of the differential on . But I can't get it to com off! Any suggestions would be great! Thanks!

Yes you have to pull the axles out, the entire third member (pumpkin) will then slide out of the axle housing. Theres no need to pull the driveshaft flange off, the ring and pinion assembly come with the  pumpkin. It'sreally easy to slide in a different ratio 3rd member,  shove the axle shafts back in and you're off to the races
