rasin.cran Posted August 11, 2016 Report Posted August 11, 2016 hey y'all. I'm trying to get a 3 spoke moon wheel on my 53 cranbrook due to a shorty original wheel. Ive tried 2 adapters that my local shop said would fit and neither worked. Anyone have any experience or knowledge on the topic? Thanks in advanced. Quote
wayfarer Posted August 11, 2016 Report Posted August 11, 2016 Which part didn't 'work'? And, what is a 'shorty' ....? Quote
rasin.cran Posted August 12, 2016 Author Report Posted August 12, 2016 shorty is SHOTTY i apologize. the aluminum adapter that fits the spline was far too small of an opening to fit. thats what didn't work. i measured it and it seems to be close to a 13/16 of an inch opening with a 42 spline count. wayfarer Posted August 12, 2016 Report Posted August 12, 2016 ...not sure how to explain the process in 20 words or less..... Cut the center out of your oem wheel. In a lathe, trim the od to something usable. YOU define usable in terms of column shrouding and base of new wheel. Mark and drill for hole pattern of new wheel. Install both pieces. Make the rest of the parts fit. You may need to make 'something' to fit between the 'new' adapter and the column to hide the internals, and, you may need to make a 'cone' of some sort to fit over the 'new' adapter to hide it. Perhaps one piece will do both jobs. Welcome to the world of hot-rodding. Quote
