38plymouth Posted January 18, 2016 Report Posted January 18, 2016 (edited) A friend of mine owns a powder coating shop and has offered to give me a deal on doing the wheels on my 38 Plymouth. I do have what looks like the original wheel and tire in the trunk and its in nearly perfect condition. He's pretty confident that they can powder coat the wheels the same shade and sheen as the original. If it's close I will be very happy. My question is does anyone know the original color of the gold pinstripe? I'm thinking I will have to try to have the color matched but it's worth a shot. I'm also pretty concerned with getting the pinstripe on the wheels, I have seen videos of people using one of those little paint wheels or a brush, I'm worried I won't get the stripes back on correctly. jcmiller Posted January 18, 2016 Report Posted January 18, 2016 I don't know if this is accurate, but it's from the judging guide and may be helpful: All 1938 Plymouth rims have (3) slots where the center hub meets the rim. The rims have (2) paintedstripes. One is located on the outer edge, approximately ½” from the edge of the rim. The other pinstripe is located on the rim, approximately 1” away from the hubcap. 38plymouth Posted January 18, 2016 Author Report Posted January 18, 2016 Based on my wheels I would say that is accurate. Quote
