Niel Hoback Posted August 28, 2015 Report Posted August 28, 2015 I keep thinking that brake shoes could be made to float instead of having to center them manually. If the end of the shoe with the hole in it was shortened by cutting the end off leaving half of the hole, and then enlarging the arc of the "half-hole", so that it could move up or down on the anchor bolt the shoe would be able to center itself when the brakes are applied. Why would this not work? Attached is a picture of front brakes that use a flat end on the shoe that rides on a flat surface of the opposing wheel cylinder. These brakes are also self-adjusting foe regular use. I really think there is a way to adapt this shoe mount to old Lockheed brakes. BTW, these are old Trabant brakes. Quote
