Cab bolts for 1946 Dodge WC

Recommended Posts

I am ready to mount my cab on the frame of my truck.  The "Shop Manual" says that "All mounting bolts, except the left front) have springs.  I have the bolts and springs.  Do the springs go between the cab and the frame or does the cab set directly on the frame with the springs underneath.  The photo also references  body shims.  I think I am missing something somewhere.

The photo is on page 291 of the manual.

I am going to figure out how to post photos soon and report my progress.  I am going to have a beautiful truck!!!

The earlier trucks had wooden blocks between the cab body and the frame , your truck would have rubber pads perhaps 3/16 or 1/4 inch thick between the cab and the frame . perhaps these are referred to as " body shims " . The springs would go underneath the frame and the idea was that there was some flex so things wouldn't break . The left front corner wasn't allowed to flex because that is where things were fastened together , like the steering column . There would be more information on the 1939 - 1947 Dodge truck forum and perhaps some photos in the files or photo section .

Thank You Jerry  I have found the "shims" and will proceed to hook it up tomorrow.

At the risk of sounding like an idiot, where do I find the 1939 - 47 Dodge Truck Forum?
