Redneck Coronet Posted July 11, 2015 Author Report Posted July 11, 2015 Nope. Seperate fluid, check and fill access on trans hump under carpet on pass side DO NOT drop fill plug. Most common replacement fluid is universal tractor hydraulic fluid. Available at Places like Tractor supply etc. Stuff is for powering tractor accessories like bucket lifts. raising three point hitches etc. You position the plug, remove it and stick in a finger. If it comes out wet yer good to go, like a standard trans of diffy. The fluid drive while providing no torque multiplication till 53 was 95 to 98% efficient. So in good nick should only add 100 or 200 RPM to any speed per RPM equation. About the same as current lock up torque converters when compared to unlocked, in comparison to a dry clutch set up. OK got carb on, pulled rubber plug, removed plug on "torque converter." Looking device. Fluid came running out. Is it supposed to be that way? Thanks. DID NOT DROP PLUG. Quote

If you accessed the plug through the floor access panel( yours riveted over), and then the cover in the bell housing that allows the plug to be seen and removed, it should be positioned at an upward angle at which point the fluid should not run out. As greg suggested, you should be able to touch the fluid with your finger. The only way to over fill it is to fill it before bolting it to the flywheel. If overfilled to the top by that method it may, or may not function well as a fluid coupling. EDIT: add pic Edited July 12, 2015 by shel_ny Quote
Redneck Coronet Posted July 20, 2015 Author Report Posted July 20, 2015 No. Do you have a manual? If not suggest you buy one. I bought the manual and dang if I cannot find out where the correct check and fill procedure is. It says check this and that if not correct to fill to proper level but I cannot find where it says what the proper level is. Quote

Going to fill with this Mobil DTE light circulating oil ISO 32. As posted by another member. 40.00 a gallon. So I guess 2 gal will do. I hope that is expensive stuff.
