I found this response to a Wartburg forum question about cold weather driving in Finnland.  I would really like to meet this guy.

"I have a good story about Wartburg and cold winter in Finnland. It happened to my father. He was working temporarily at fox fur farm.

It was a very cold winter and everyone connected a eletrical heater to the motor so it could start. They even drove their cars into the frozen food storage, where it was not so cold. But not my father. He asked why they have to tow their cars like horses. His Wartburg where allways waiting for him at the open parking place. One day there was only my father Wartburg and Volvo. The Volvo did not start and father asked if he needed help. He said angerly that you have not started your car. Well my father started the Wartburg and left.

Next day it was even colder and fathers Wartburg was the only car at the open parking place. When he was leaving he saw that lot of people was looking in the windows, if the Wartburg could start without electrical heater. Stopping the Wartburg he had already pull out the choke to have more gasolene in the cylinders. The Wartburg started at only one cylinder. My father made an extra glorius turn at the open parking place gathering more speed to climb to small hill at exit of the parking place. Of course driving a kilometer the other cylinders started to work".
