p15estep Posted June 19, 2007 Report Posted June 19, 2007 I need some help with getting the horn ring off a 1953 Desoto so i can get the steering wheel off. Is a certain way you turn the horn ring or do you have to remove the button and if so then how, i've tried just about everything and i don't want to break the horn ring in the process. Any help you could give. thanks Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted June 20, 2007 Report Posted June 20, 2007 Are there any countersunk screws on the back side of the steering wheel?? That's what you have on a 46-48 Plymouth. Do you have a parts or repair manual....ought to show something. Quote
Guest rockabillybassman Posted June 20, 2007 Report Posted June 20, 2007 I dont know if this helps, but my 55 Plymouth has a horn button in the centre as well as the ring. You grip the button and twist it anticlockwise and it will turn and then pop out. Underneath are three screws running through bakelite insulating bushings that hold the ring on. Warning.... dont drop the screws or bushes down the hollow steering shaft or you will find swearwords you did'nt know you knew! LOL! Quote
PatS.... Posted June 20, 2007 Report Posted June 20, 2007 My '49 Chrysler has 3 screws on the back of the wheel center, then center comes off and then the horn ring. Quote
