BobT-47P15 Posted November 13, 2014 Report Posted November 13, 2014 While at the Zephyrhills swap meet today i ran onto two places that do chrome plating... One also says they straighten and buff Stainless. One place is in Tenn, the other in Wisc. Will post more detailed info on the Referrals page. Seems like there was Thread not long ago about possible Sources for chrome work. Quote
Robert Horne Posted November 14, 2014 Report Posted November 14, 2014 There is a chrome plating shop in Johnson City, Tenn. that does chrome plating, straighten, etc., life time warranty, as long as you own the vehicle. I called about a 49 bumper, they had one ready to go with an exchange, and a 2 week wait to do my other bumper. Quote
rfcr Posted November 14, 2014 Report Posted November 14, 2014 Mr. Horne, If you don't mind, how much did it cost and were you happy with the result? Thanks, RFC Quote
fstfish66 Posted November 15, 2014 Report Posted November 15, 2014 there are more then one chroming place in tenn,,, advance plating is a high end shop,,,no experience with them my self ,,but there stuff looks good at there booth at events,,, then there is try city,,,there chrome isnt bad,,,seems soft, scratches easliy,,,but had issues with my bumpers the first time they returned them to me,,,for 1 they must of put it in a press,,why ?? didnt need straightening,,maybe they swaped it for one ?// but it was broken and re welded,,could se the weld in the back,,,,then it had 2 giant dents and had to be returned to be repaired,,,they charged me double the cost for shipping from them to me,,,as it cost me to return it to them via the same shipper,,,ill be working on a bumper over the winter that need chroming ,,,so ill be looking around ,,, pauls in PA does GREAT work,,,but very high priced,,did a pair of tail lite fro me a few years ago,,,the casting were pitt free,,, 700.00 Quote

Robert Horne Posted November 15, 2014 Report Posted November 15, 2014 Mr. Horne, If you don't mind, how much did it cost and were you happy with the result? Thanks, RFC I ended up selling the 49, before I got to do the bumper, sorry... Quote
denmopar Posted December 21, 2014 Report Posted December 21, 2014 I had my '54 front and rear bumpers - with guards- rechromed by "Sandy's Bumper Mart" in Syracuse NY.....Winters mean a $20% off over $200 of work. I'm fussy- my bumpers are beautiful.....Both bumpers and four guards cost me $900 last year. (Shipping not included.) Their "street quality" work rivals "show quality." Just my opinion. Quote
