Bingster Posted June 18, 2014 Report Posted June 18, 2014 I know that the front bearing dust seal on my '47 Desoto also has a fiber seal that fits into a groove around the metal seal. The shop manual tells how to roll this fiber seal to set it into the groove. I see where seals are available, but no mentioon of the fiber part. I wonder if they come with the fiber part? You're supposed to soak them in light oil before inserting them. Quote
_shel_ny Posted June 19, 2014 Report Posted June 19, 2014 I believe you will find that the newer ones come with a rubber, or synthetic seal that does not require soaking in oil. Quote
Bingster Posted June 19, 2014 Author Report Posted June 19, 2014 I see NOS ones, but where would one find a new one? Quote
