torque for the head bolts is lower than 80. pretty sure the range is 65-70 for screws, and around 55 for nuts.

ah, from the manual, cylinder head cap screws (plain head) 7/16-14, 65 to 70 foot pounds. cylinder head nuts 7/16-20, 52 to 57 foot pounds.

For freeing stuck valves I've had good luck with Marvel Mystery Oil.  Once you get it so that it will run and can get it hot, I'd try giving it a dose down the throat of the carb until it almost chokes out.  Let it clear itself, and do it again.  It's gonna smoke big time while you do this, but that should help free up any sluggish valves.  I would think any kind of penetrating oil in the cylinders with the head off (including the ATF / Acetone) would help free up the rings.  What do the cylinder walls look like?  Is there any scoring?  How much of a top ridge is there?  Hopefully she'll wake up and get the readings into a higher area by running it awhile.  Hopefully its just waking up from a long nap.  Mike

the cylinder walls are nice n smooth. There is a little ring groove but not bad for the age. I was going to use my stone hone on it but I couldn't find it. I buttoned it up but haven't been back to it. Noel in NM  thanks MB

Can you get the key cylinder out of the ignition switch without the keys?. . I don't have the keys so if I can get it out I can get a new set ( cylinder and keys from burnbaum's. Does the cylinder have to be in the on position to get it out?? Thanks noel in nm
