50desotocoupe Posted April 8, 2014 Report Posted April 8, 2014 Morning, I am finally done with my disc brake upgrade on my Desoto. I had the 2lb residual valves installed and have a pretty good pedal. Now I don't have brake lights. I am assuming it is because the old brake light switch activates at a higher pressure than what I have going through the lines now. I can buy a lower pressure brake like switch but was wondering if you know what the thread fitting is. Is it 1/8" pipe? Also, a tip I read about on the HAMB this am, use a 2357LL taillight bulb. The brake and turn signal lights are brighter. They are cheap to replace so why not. Thanks Quote
_shel_ny Posted April 8, 2014 Report Posted April 8, 2014 (edited) 1/8 X 27 thread Edit: apparently you have converted to 12V (bulbs) Check the index pins for proper placement (staggered or even) Pair $4 walmart $5 advance $12 ebay Edited April 8, 2014 by shel_ny Quote
Don Coatney Posted April 8, 2014 Report Posted April 8, 2014 The pressure to activate the disc brakes should be ample to activate the brake light switch. The 2# residual valve has nothing to do with activation pressure. Have you checked for incoming power at your brake light switch? Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted April 8, 2014 Report Posted April 8, 2014 Don.....are you using the lever type brake light switch? Quote
Don Coatney Posted April 8, 2014 Report Posted April 8, 2014 Don.....are you using the lever type brake light switch? Yes I am but that has nothing to do with this guys question. I am also using Technostolgia LED lights. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted April 9, 2014 Report Posted April 9, 2014 Don.....did I tell you I got some Technostalgia 6 volt LED tail lights? They have stopped making them, due to inadequate sales volume. Quote
