jwaterman1177 Posted March 24, 2014 Author Report Posted March 24, 2014 Apologies all, been a while since I have been on this site due to some "living in the country and trying to have internet" issues. Andy, thanks for the offer, might give you a call later in the week. I have seen a lot of the Edgy stuff and got a rough quote from him. That was when I thought i had a 218cid 23" Head motor and not the 201cid 23". I am now concentrating on finding parts to turn the 218cid 25" motor into a 251cid. Have found a crank in the USA but the shipping costs hurt so I am going to see what I can find in Australia. There is a place in Wallan that has a lot of old Tractors, might need to stop one day and see if they have any parts. Quote
Andydodge Posted March 25, 2014 Report Posted March 25, 2014 As far as I know the 25" 57-62 Chrysler Royals here in Oz were all 250's, as far as making a 250 it would probably be easier to find a complete engine rather than just the rods.......andyd Quote
jwaterman1177 Posted March 26, 2014 Author Report Posted March 26, 2014 Andy, Great info about the Royals, will keep an eye out for one or for an engine. Regards, James Quote
Mopar Mick Posted March 27, 2014 Report Posted March 27, 2014 James, check out www.dodgeparts.com.au (03) 5345 4094 The blokes name is Jim Robinson from Clunes (near Ballarat). He has a lot of sidevalve stuff and he also rebuilds them if required. Mick. Quote
jwaterman1177 Posted March 31, 2014 Author Report Posted March 31, 2014 Mick, thanks for the link to Dodge Parts, might have to head out there soon and see what he has. Is not to far from where i am now. I managed to get out in the garage this weekend and have started to go through the car. Checked over the engine on Sunday and found it turns over freely by hand. The oil looked quite good or in other words wasn't milky. The water hoses are all gone which I expected. I also had a look at the brake hoses and I reckon with one good pump of the pedal they would explode so that is on the list to replace sooner rather than later. I started to go through the body panels that were off the car and they are all in pretty good condition, the worst one would be the inner guard where the battery sat, looks like it may have leaked over time and has corroded in the corner. Might use it as my practice for welding up in other areas as the repair patch looks fairly simple at the stage..... James Quote
Mopar Mick Posted April 1, 2014 Report Posted April 1, 2014 (edited) James, I might know where there is a 250ci "spitfire" sidevalve six minus the head. I shall make some enquires if you are interested. Sorry to disappoint you, but the one I was thinking of has been thrown to scrap. Just found out today. The bloke that is working on my 1940 Coupe threw it out without even consulting me. Pretty pissed off. Mick. Edited April 1, 2014 by Mopar Mick Quote
