Anyone have a 38 dodge convertible?

Here at the House of Blues in Las Vegas tonight the bass player intje band said he has one and showed me some pics. Would like more info on it. Am at the clin now

I see my spelling on the above post was a bit off at the last.   Should say "am at the club now".   The smart

phone isn't perfect as I turned off spell check feature recently.  

 

Well, anyway, I see no answers so far.   In the pics, the car, which he is having shipped from Pennsylvania,

is kind of rough in some areas - needs new floors,  but other areas are pretty nice.....like engine bay, dash,

and body.  Still has the original appearing engine.  

 

I gave him name of this forum and said he could either lurk or join up and probably someone would have some

info for him eventually.    It is a convertible coupe style.  So, will see of he shows up.   I just told him it is pretty

rare these days and I did not know what sort of value it has.   

 

Apparently there is still a car collection at the hotel that formerly was the Imperial Palace........now called The Quad.

Did not go as not enough time to do everything and were with some other people.  You can look that place up on

the net and see pics of most of the cars there.  

 

Well, anyway, back home today.  That town is busy, busy and seems to have gotten even bigger since we were

last there probably 15 years ago.  Don't think we will go again, but was interesting to see.

I'm not sure how close Dodge and Chrysler were in '38, but I still have my Chrysler...

 I haven't really been gone, just busy; I've been lurking all along....

 

I've still got both cars. I guess I'm just not one of those guys who flits from car to car, and I'd have to get rid of one in order to get another.

 

I just got disc conversion brackets from Charlie for the wagon and have that up on jackstands doing the install as we speak. Oh, and I took my name off the door after switching jobs.

 

I can't remember if I've posted here about it, but the Chrysler now has big block (that's mopar 383) power in addition to the 4-wheel discs & power steering I'd done on it earlier.

About the closest thing to a '38 Dodge conv that I have is a '39 Plym, P8 RS conv cpe.

During the course of the fifteen year restoration of my '39 Plym, I found that all of the DCPD open cars shared the same basic body from 1936 through the '40's. This is especially true during the '30's with the six cylinder cars.. The Chrysler/Desoto had a slightly longer wheel base, where-as the Dodge/Plym were the same.. From the firewall back the bodies are the same..

There is a very good possibility that the Briggs body numbers for the conv coupes are all consecitive, I base this assumption on info I found about the 1940 wind wings.. The style of the wind wing changed in mid 1940, all DCPD conv's with a body number after 4001 changed to the '41 style.. I found this info in the respective Plymouth and Chrysler Parts books...

The 4dr conv. sdn's, were all built on the Desoto chassis, This is also true of the very rare '39 Plym 4dr conv sdn's..
