52dodge Posted April 20, 2013 Report Posted April 20, 2013 While i have my oil pan off to do the rear main seal is there any other things i should do while i have it apart to get alittle longer life outta the old girl? She has 110,000 miles, burns no oil,25psi of oil pressure idle hot and 40-45psi cruising at 50mph hot.I cleaned all the sludge outta the pan so far.I thought about taking the pickup off the oil pump but the screen appears to be clean when looking at it.Is the pickup suppose to pivot up and down? Niel Hoback Posted April 20, 2013 Report Posted April 20, 2013 Yes, its supposed to float above the bottom of the pan so it doesn't suck up junk. Its easy to slide off the pipe and clean it out real good. Carefully bend the tabs on the edge and get inside if you see stuff in there. Quote
54Illinois Posted April 20, 2013 Report Posted April 20, 2013 If it looks good, and your pressure is fine, I would leave it. Quote
52dodge Posted April 20, 2013 Author Report Posted April 20, 2013 someone else had mentioned in chat that the bottom plate on the pickup was removable for cleaning, ill probably just leave it be and douch it with brake clean Quote
54Illinois Posted April 21, 2013 Report Posted April 21, 2013 It will come apart. Unless the screen is clogged, brake cleaner would suffice. Quote
