Here are a few shots of my recent bed floor transplant and my first ever powder coating experience. By the way, should any of you ever contemplate powdercoating original MoPar riveted wheels, better be ready for a little fun. This man who did my wheels had to do them three times before they were done correctly. Seems that during the baking process, old road gook would ooze out of the seams where the rim and center sections mated - this in spite of several sand blast trips. Anyhow, they finally got them done and I couldn'r be more pleased - nice and glossy, all lready for my new 750R16 tires.

The third photo is of a GMC step side factory spare carrier, which I am adapting to my Pilothouse. Guess it's just a thing from my own childhood memory, but I like 'em . . . . . . go figure.:)

I like those side mounted spares too. The rim color looks very close to the original color. Did they do a special mix?

Reg,

No special mix - just RAL 1015. If you can't find RAL colors ask any NAPA store that handles Martin Senour. The powder coat shop I used had many pieces of 1 1/2 inch pipe six inches long, painted every imaginable color in powder colors. I just picked the one that matched the inside of the rim where the original color still lookied real nice. This number is also Ford code BB paint, if that is easier to find.

I triel that RAL number today at NAPA and an auto paint supply store..they looked at me like I was crazy. I'll try the Ford lead. Thanks and they look great.
