Hi Guys,

I just got an 802 radio for my 1950 Fargo.

I have not yet checked to see if it works.

When I turn the knobs (not powered on at all ) I don't seem to see one which would make a "click " like it was turned on.

Should there be a "click" on on of the knobs ?

Also I seem to recall that some one had installation instructions for these.

Is that so ?

Also can I use any speaker ?

Thanks Ray Morris

Ray, I bought a restored 802 for my truck around Christmas time. I Couldn't be happier. If your is like mine, the radio doesn't trun on by using the knobs, therefore no click should be heard or felt when turning the knob. The top push botton is the off switch. The radio is turned on by pressing any of the other preset channel buttons. I have yet to set any of the buttons to a preset station, but if I recall correctly from the instruction page enclosed with the radio (which I have since misplaced), I believe the botton covers pop off revealing a manual adjustor for each button. Hope this helps.

I have been told but am not positive that you can use a regular (modern day) permanent magnet type speaker with your radio. However, you will have to determine which wire not to connect given that these radios were originally connected to an electromagnetic speaker. I was told by the person who sold me mine to just eliminate the wire labled "field coil" when connecting to a new speaker.
