Norm's Coupe Posted May 18, 2007 Report Posted May 18, 2007 I had the scare of a lifetime...thought I had Rhemutoid Arthrytis..(couple in family suffer from this)..I would hobble to work..this affected my work in a bad way..after getting all the test done and such..coming back negative etc...I started reading all I could on my symptons etc...finally read an article on how some people have a negative reaction to the acid. I had nothing to lose and everything to gain..quit the dark sodas...(root beer okay) I had been putting down a lot of cola over my life time. I even retired sooner than I wanted from the reserves as this was how much impact it had on my body...afraid they was going to kick me out without benefits after all the years I had in..If any of you have similar symtoms and such...highly recommend you give this a try..results in as early as 30 days..steadily getting better...my knee used to ache for no real known reason at least twice a month lasting 3-7 days of pure torture..it has been almost 3 years since then and no knee pain like before. Tim, With a family history like that I suggest you follow up from time to time with more testing. It's just a simple blood test to detect it. I think mine actually started back in the early 80's. My hand and wrist would swell up while bowling to the point I could no longer hold the ball. Finally gave up bowling in the mid 80's. Then in the 90's the knees started to bother me until one day in the late 90's they were so bad both knees went out at the same time. Wife had to go to the store and buy a cane so I could get out of bed. That's when I got serious about it and told the doctor. Ran a blood test and had the answer right away. I never drank a lot of dark soda so that had nothing to do with it in my case. The original doctor (family doctor) told me to stay away from alcohol and red meat. Alcohol was not a problem because maybe I have about 4 or 5 drinks a year and don't drink beer. However, I did eat a lot of red meat. Cut back on that and that really helped a lot. Diet does play a role in arthritis. However Rhemutoid arthritis is progressive, so keep getting checked out every couple of years. It's also possible that it goes into remission for awhile, then comes back. Also find a specialist to check it out. If you do have it now, you could be damaging the joints more by doing the things you are now doing. Quote
