Jim Yergin Posted May 16, 2007 Report Posted May 16, 2007 I am disassembling a D24 engine. I removed the cranshaft pulley/vibration damper asssembly. My Plymouth doesn't have one of these so this is new to me. There appears to be a rubber material between the front most edge piece and the thicker vibration damper section. However, I do not see how the assembly comes apart to replace the rubber piece. Can that be done? My shop manuals and parts books do not help. Thanks. Jim Yergin Quote
Don Coatney Posted May 16, 2007 Report Posted May 16, 2007 Jim; The internal rubber on a harmonic balancer is not replaceable at home. If it is in good shape re-use it. If it needs to be replaced contact someone such as "Damper Doctor" at the link below. http://www.damperdoctor.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=DD&Category_Code=CUS Quote
bob westphal Posted May 16, 2007 Report Posted May 16, 2007 Many of the MoPar engines came without a damper. I have no idea why. I once had a '35 PJ with engine vibration problems. It didn't come with a damper. I put one on the engine with no appreachiable difference noted. I tore the engine down and had it balanced. No more vibration without damper. Runs soooooo smooooth!!
