Trouble shifting to 3rd

My coupe shifts okay into 1st and 1st to 2nd, but at times does not want to go into 3rd. If I shift back to 2nd and try again, it usually works okay. Sometimes I double clutch and it works okay that way. Could this be a linkage bushing problem, lubrication problem, or what? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

I'd say to check the linkage connection at the side of the transmission, especially if it feels loose.. I had a '52 Dodge truck & it would come loose periodically & I would have to get the wrenches out & tighten it up, all good for next 250 miles..

Thanks for the tip, I will do that. Just got out of the hospital and will do that when I can.
