claybill Posted May 8, 2007 Report Posted May 8, 2007 i wanted to lower the front of my 40 coupe....finally just cut one coil off of the front springs..it was good advice, runs fine, easy to do, actually helped steering on my high ridin' coupe. bill Quote
martybose Posted May 9, 2007 Report Posted May 9, 2007 Make sure that if you use dropped spindles that you convert to disk brakes at the same time. I can confirm if necessary how poorly they work with OEM drum brakes! Marty Quote
FMSPEED49 Posted May 10, 2007 Author Report Posted May 10, 2007 I've already cut 1 coil, and mesured it out, if i cut 2 i'll be at the bump-stops, so lowered spindals it is, thanks everybody. Quote
Olddaddy Posted May 11, 2007 Report Posted May 11, 2007 I lowered my own spindles, but I'm not doing them for sale at this point. I can show you how to do it, it is not difficult. However, having said that you will run into problems with turning radius unless you countersink the hardware mounting your steering arms/brake backing plates or caliper brackets. I've never lowered a car with front drums, only discs, so I can only speak for discs. In any case it's basically easy, but leads to other issues unless you are prepared to work out the details. Quote
