55 Fargo Posted June 18, 2012 Report Posted June 18, 2012 Been hired to do body work on my Wife's Son's Car, it is a 1966 Acadian Canso, a rebadged 66 Nova. I am going to weld in a new lower 1/4 panel, have it already, other than that the cars is very solid, the fibreglass fenders will go, He has a parts car too. Here are some pics of this car, and a 64 Acadian, both cars are hard tops too. I would figure some of you more Southerly Guys, may have never heard of an Acadian, let alone ever seen one. It will be getting a SBC 383 stroker, turbo 350 trans, there is a 12 bolt posi diff in it already.. Quote
1941Rick Posted June 19, 2012 Report Posted June 19, 2012 In my humble opinion the 66 is the best ever looking Acadian that was ever built. don't know how much of the 64 you will be able to use. Ever give thought to a 700-R4 trans. Makes for a very affordable highway driver. Quote
moparbenny Posted June 19, 2012 Report Posted June 19, 2012 neat! my dad had a 62 us version then he a 66 u.s version 2dr post..six and a powerglide..we called it the fred flintstone car because of the lack of floors..when he got rid of it 144,000 miles..the he started driving old mopars for daily drivers...but 66 is one of my fav years..there the reason i seem to favor Valiants over darts..the 1967-1974 valiant roof lines look oddly simular.. BeBop138 Posted June 20, 2012 Report Posted June 20, 2012 What are the chances there would be two OT threads on Novas---I like the 67 the best-----let us know how the body work turns out----pics......Lee Quote
55 Fargo Posted June 20, 2012 Author Report Posted June 20, 2012 As this is not my car, just doiing some body work and prep, for the Young Man. He has big aspirations for it, the 383 SBC stroker motor, etc. If it were mine I would see if Pat S, still has that 283 SBC and Powerglide, with the Pontiac embossed valve covers.... Quote
1941Rick Posted June 20, 2012 Report Posted June 20, 2012 A 327 sbc and a 4 speed make this car that much more special..... Quote
55 Fargo Posted August 2, 2012 Author Report Posted August 2, 2012 Hey all , stripped and primered roof on Nova Canso today. Stripped of BC/CC lot was already delamintated allowing moisture to do its work. I then cleaned wiped and primered with Rusty metal primer, shot outta my HVLP Spray Gun, thinned primer with Urethane Grade Reducer, by about 25%. I shot on 3 coats back to back, this stuff flashed in a super short time, almost or just like Urethane primers, unreal actually. It was done outside, and it is good and warm. Now this will cure for a few weeks, glazes, and 2 k urethane primer/surfacer can gover, to be blocked after that. Lacquer based primer/surfacer can be used too.... Here are some pics. Quote
