Labrauer Posted May 17, 2012 Report Posted May 17, 2012 Can anyone tell me how to get the top bearing out of the steering wheel tube? It is about two inches down the tube and the steering rod has some play in it I think the bearings inside is wore down. I hope I don't have to remove the entire steering box to get it out but I don't see any other way. Answers? Thanks, Larry:confused: Quote
flatheadtim Posted May 17, 2012 Report Posted May 17, 2012 (edited) I would think an adjustable pilot bearing puller would work or a slight modification...The tool screws on the end of a slide hammer..your choice on how large a slide hammer. I have never done this job on a P15. Is the bearing attached to the shaft or the tube? Probably need to pull the shaft first. Good luck! Edited May 17, 2012 by flatheadtim Quote
Labrauer Posted May 17, 2012 Author Report Posted May 17, 2012 I would think it is attached to the tube as with the steering wheel off I can wiggle the shaft and see it moving on the inter circle of the bearing. It is down the tube about 2 or so inches. I see no way to remove it without taking the shaft out of the tube then maybe I can use the puller to get it out. Thanks for the reply, Larry Quote
