Andy, is he dyed in the wool oem or possible retrofit for the dash? I just put in new litho glass in my 40 plymouth's gauge pod to the tune of $175 plus s/h...mind you my glass was shot before hand and I think the new glass is worth it, but for you guys to get an old dash pod here and then the probable glass to your side of the pond would be quite some change even with your somewhat favorable exchange rate.

I've seen and probably have a pic of a 40 plymouth dash pod with a single new age 4"-5" speedo and "a" 2" gauge either side...not bad!...but not stock either.

Conti kit was STOCK on Oz 1940 Dodge & Plymouth coupes.........lol........take a real close look at the size of the doors........these cars were MADE at the factory, TJ Richards from 4 DR SEDANS......I had one when I took this pic 40 yrs ago........and I met then then owner and got to know him and was able to take a couple of pics...this is the only one I can find.......anyway the factory basically cut thru the door opening from side to side, installed new pressings with the side window and the rolled up or maybe presseed rear roof pressing and left the centre door pillar. the SAME bootlid that was used in Oz mopar roadsters and coupes from 1936 to 1940 was them used, the opening cut in the rolled panel and rain gutters installed and steel strip 3" x 1/4" installed along the 4 trunk opening sides and down to the rear body sill.

These downward sloping reinforcements were then used to bolt the "Conti" kit or external spare bracket on.

I have also attached a couple of pics I have of my 1940 Dodge Coupe, the one in the magazine was taken before I bought it, there are a couple after I had pulled it apart, reassembled it and the day I sold it in about 1985/6.......it has disappeared since........as I pulled mine apart I have a good knowledge of whats inside these.....lol.........regards, andyd

Now that's neat, just take a 4 door and make it something else...cool. Man I love that conti look and would love to see that on the back of an actual 4 door plymouth for the full effect.

What would be even better would be to see would be a 40 plymouth truck{ute to you folks over there}.

Odd question sir, what's with the little side rectangle shaped access panel behind the door? Added storage access?

That dang mad max movie did me in waaay back when...had me researching falcons and still trying to see the kawi H2 motorcycle in said movie...I was riding one of two I had back then{stupid no down 5 up shift pattern}. Adding access to the web when I was younger aided in the rarely seen here utes you folks had...now those would raise some eyebrows at any cruise night here even to this day! You guys got the webbed block 351c, the L6 hemi head mopar motors, olivia newton john, alice springs chicken{ok maybe not that bu the outback restaraunts here have it}, backyard shed resin{1/24 scale aussie semi truck cabs...this is how I know shipping can be a killer}...not fair-Hahaha.
