Andydodge
There appears to be 3 types of crankshaft oil seals used by Plymouth from 1936 to 1959.........1936-42, 1946-52 and 1953 to 1959.........each with a different number in Andy Bernbaums parts book. Does anyone know whether the diferences are in the way the seal sits in the timing cover or are there 3 different outside diameter sizes in the actual crank hub to account for 3 different seal ID's?. The crank hub & pulley from my 1941 P11 Plymouth appears to be about 25 thou smaller than a new old stock bare crank hub I purchased a while ago from ebay. The NOS ebay hub also attaches to the its pulley with six 5/16" UNC bolts, whereas the original crank hub & pulley from the car were held together with eight 5/16th rivets. The NOS and original hub are both the same overall size etc except for the 25 thou smaller diameter of the seal surface on the original hub. How many different crank hubs/pulleys are there?............lol................andyd
Andydodge
Oh.........and I bought a speedie sleeve that was supposed to be for this 1941 Plymouth hub.....thought I'd save some time by using the NOS hub as the correct size didn't I!! so I went to the bearing shop with the NOS hub.......and........as I mention the Plymouth hub is about 25 thou smaller than the NOS one so guess what!......yep the speedie sleeve is TOO BIG.........lol...............hence my post above........andyd
