p24-1953 Posted August 15, 2011 Report Posted August 15, 2011 I am trying to find the correct style carb for my hydrive. it appears that mine had been replaced with a standard carb. Does anyone know what model number i should look for and where i should i start to look for one? Quote
captden29 Posted August 15, 2011 Report Posted August 15, 2011 riley auto parts lists stromberg BXVD-3, carb #380357[3-123]. capt den Quote
p24-1953 Posted August 15, 2011 Author Report Posted August 15, 2011 that appears to be the rebuild kit for the standard carb. I am looking for a whole unit for a fluid drive or hydrive car. it apparently has a mechinism that will help prevent the car from stalling out when stopping. (i currently have to run way rich to prevent this) Thanks for the help. Quote
p24-1953 Posted August 16, 2011 Author Report Posted August 16, 2011 it does list a carter d6h1 or d6h2 but neither of these are the proper carb for a hydrive. and i do have a hydrive manual, but it seems to have been misplaced.... but i am thinking it only discussed the transmission... crap where did i put that book. p24-1953 Posted August 16, 2011 Author Report Posted August 16, 2011 The hydrive was a stock option, but the engine is slightly different and so is the carb. It has an additional dashpot on it that slowly feeds additional gas when the accelerator is released. Quote
captden29 Posted August 16, 2011 Report Posted August 16, 2011 call this guy---antique auto supply, 817 275 2381. he has been in this business many years and can tell you what you need and probably sell it to you.also, nearer to you in fairmount Ga, is mitchell motor parts 706 337 4606. just search the internet, make some calls and you will eventually get the correct info and be able to make an educated decision. capt den Quote
48mirage Posted August 16, 2011 Report Posted August 16, 2011 If you are not committed to original equipment, I put a holley 94 that came off an old ford with automatic on my fluid drive Dodge. The carb had the dashpot needed for the fluid drive. I'm also thinking some carbs off of a slant 6 with automatic will satisfy your needs. May take a little work to mount and get the linkage setup but it is anothere option. Quote
p24-1953 Posted August 19, 2011 Author Report Posted August 19, 2011 well i found the original part numbers so now its just searching for the right carb. Quote
