bbbbbb99 Posted August 5, 2011 Report Posted August 5, 2011 (edited) I have a 56 plymouth with a 230 that I intend on adding a T-5 to. I have the tranny (S-10) and have done numerous web searches in the past including this site regarding the swap. I've seen Paul Curtis' website and had the pleasure of viewing Don's thread before it was removed. I'm not trying to stir up an old pot here but I am wondering which way to go with this swap. I've cobbled together photos from folks who've done the DC way and I'm wondering OPINiONS on which way is the easiest/cheapest (I'm a scrounger at heart). If the moderators feel like this is hot topic and should be pulled I'm fine with that. Thanks Edited August 5, 2011 by bbbbbb99 To be more discriptive Quote
Don Coatney Posted August 5, 2011 Report Posted August 5, 2011 No reason this should be a hot topic. It is very much on topic. To do it my way requires a lot of machine shop work and unless you have access to a machine shop the cost may be prohibitive. The Curtis kit must work as several folks are using it. What I dont like about it is the transmission input shaft extender. Follow this link for all my T-5 pictures. http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v65/DonCoatney/T-5/?start=all Quote
Robert Horne Posted August 6, 2011 Report Posted August 6, 2011 I was working on my project of a 5 speed Ford Ranger trans, 1983 to 1987, on my 56 Dodge engine. I had a thread on here before, "5 speed not T5". I used a bell housing from my 38 or 37 Plymouth, that required milling the 5 speed input shaft retainer cover about 1/16 of an inch, or the bell housing could be cut 1/16. Drilled holes to bolt trans to bell. I have to have a pilot bushing made. Quote
