40P10touring sedan Posted June 6, 2012 Report Posted June 6, 2012 Just noticed under the video is another section for still pics I guess, labeled "40 plymouth super deluxe"...the vid is for the 41 "special" deluxe...which is correct. What I thought....the bumper ends are supposed to have the "mits" or added tall covers on either side of the bumpers...neither end has them...but, maybe the special didn't get those?! Quote
Roadkingcoupe Posted June 6, 2012 Report Posted June 6, 2012 I have to disagree with you on the 40 model year location, mine is under the front seat...I like the location of that 41's better. ???????????????????? Roadkingcoupe "1937 1938 1939 & 1940 the battery was under the drivers seat in a "hanging" box 1941 the battery moved up to the front left inner fender " Quote
Jim Yergin Posted June 6, 2012 Author Report Posted June 6, 2012 The link took me to a 64 Cuda in Leno's garage and I tried it twice? Nice Cuda! Not that it really matters but my original post was a year ago (June 27, 2011). Glad it has been resurrected and that everyone seems to enjoy the video. Jim Yergin Quote

Robert Smith Posted June 7, 2012 Report Posted June 7, 2012 I saw this spot on Jay, I noticed the dual exhaust and the non '41 hub caps and such... He did say it belonged to a friend of his at one point and I guess since it was mostly stock (not chopped) or highly modified, it was a survivor. In some ways, that may be an accurate statement since seeing a car today in California that's even "stock" in appearance is very rare. For him to be able to cruise at 65+ means the dual exhaust may have dual carbs maybe? I wouldn't doubt it. But, at least it is a MoPar 6 under the bonnet and not something else. The great thing about Jay is he appreciates just about anything, all era's of classics from steam to muscle and doesn't really run any type down so long as it was done right. I loved the clip he did once about that rarer than hens teeth 1927 Duesenberg Model X he extracted from an old lady's garage around the corner from his! The thing that surprised me about that is he restored the original finish... He didn't strip it to bare and repaint it... He just buffed out the original paint... Nearly no one does that these days!
