The steering box in my P15 is shot and I have one that I picked up from Knighthawk ages ago from his D24 when he did all the upgrades. The D24 box looks to be the same and is good and tight. The difference is the steering arm. While it appears that they measure out the same as the P15 arm and the ends all lign up once it is bolted in place, I just wanted to pick the brains of the experts to see if this should be OK.

Anyone know if the D24 box and steering arm will work as is, or should I pull the D24 arm and install the P15 arm on the D24 box?

Have you compared both Pitman arms to each other..........if they look the same, measure the same, point the same, have the same arm angles, tapers, etc etc then it would be VERY BENIFICAL to everyone here to have this info as there have been a few posts recently about these things.......I for one have a late 40's Oz mopar RHD pitman arm(exact yr & brand/model unknown) as a spare for the 1941 Plymouth RHD one thats on my car and it is indentical.........regards, andyd

Andy,

I have measured as best I could. Took some photos to compare, kind of difficult to do holding tape with one hand camera with the other and getting between the frame to get a good shot.

3 different posts showing comparrisons.

The ones I have, both on the car and the spare on the shelf are the same as the 1st pic on the 3rd set, ie, without the extra connection things.........what I mean is that all I have is the dogbone/"Y" shaped pitman arm that the tierod ends fit into.........no weird connector linkage setup........does that make sense......that weird connector setup appears to be some sort of vibration dampening thing........have you just compared the actual pitman arms to each other?..........andyd
