Am writing this from Tulsa....spending the night at the home of a friend on our way back from Texas. Drove by the hotel/convention center this afternoon (where the buried Plymouth will be displayed). Did not have a lot of time to look around real good due to traffic, but I did wonder where they will have enough space for the outdoor car show. And did not see where the parking area for the center was located. Maybe I can go back by there Saturday morning and look some more. Will also have to make myself a map of how to best get from my motel.....just off I44.....to the downtown area.

A Ramada Inn at I44 and Harvard Ave. Probably 5 miles from downtown. Our friend acted as a tour guide today and we drove from the motel to downtown, and I took notes about the route. Discovered that the convention center is pretty close to the actual burial site, there is probably plenty of parking in a multi level garage plus an outside lot, and also found a vacant Safeway store where we could use the lot for a P15-D24 gathering.

Thursday afternoon. Will stay Thurs and Fri nites. Daughter and son-in-law are coming with us. Plan on driving the Plym. Went from Tulsa to Miami, Okla this afternoon on Historic Rt 66. A pretty good road all the way. Do not have to get onto the interstate. Look forward to seeing you. Mary Ann wants to know -- will Lisa be coming also??? She says that the motel is right across the road from a SteinMart store. Actually, she shopped in that very store today. (Strange part was, I spent more than she did as I bought two pairs of shoes.)

As it is now Lisa will not be coming. She will be in Indiana with the grandkids that week. But things may change.

Bob-

Maybe you could do a Google image map of the vacant lot, so we can plan on the gathering... If this spot doesn't pan out, I think the Albertson's lot near the Sonic, as discussed in the other Tulsa threads would still work.

We pulled onto the vacant Safeway lot....no "no trespassing" or any other signs posted. It is located on Denver Ave, about 4 or 5 blocks from the convention center. I think its at 12th and Denver or 15th & Denver (have that written down at home). Didn't see an Albertsons, but wasn't looking for one. Denver is the street that runs in front of the courthouse where the car is buried.

The convention center and sky walk....to the hotel across the street.

And.....another map, a bit larger, of the downtown area.

Address of the Civic Center is 100 Civic Center, is on 6th St between Denver and Houston.

The Doubletree Hotel, connected by the skywalk, is 616 W 7th St. Their phone, if anyone needs it, is (918) 587-8000.

I forgot to ask......will you be driving your Plym-o-Soto to Tulsa????

Bob;

I will be driving my Plym-o-Soto to Tulsa and driving my BIG RACE WINNER home with all the bragging rights. That is assuming that other last place racecar is fit for the road trip and race. Winning by default is not the way I want to do it.

Not sure if the Blueskies team car will be there or not, dammit... Still working on the fix.

Here's a couple arial shots of downtown, with the Safeway parking lot, convention center, and HomeDepot noted.

It looks like the safeway lot is very close to the convention center, within walking distance. Looks like it would work fine to me for the gathering.

...11th & Denver. The car is buried at 5th & Denver. The convention center is on 7th St. All fairly close together.
