NICE TRUCK! It looks to be in very good condition overall. As far as the rear end, being a one ton it would be geared poorly for running down the road. What are your intentions with the truck. Do you plan to just drive it or is it to be a "puller" or "hauler"?

The electrical system is also somewhat dependent on how you intend to use it. The biggest advantage to 12 volt seems to me to be that you can use modern accessories easily. Otherwise the 6 volt systems when maintained properly do a good job. With the room you mentioned for two batteries you should never have a problem starting etc. My six volt 251 Chrysler starts here in SD when its far below 0 without problems. It's just a matter of maintenance.

Good luck with this project. Start in little bites til you get familiar with it.:)

Thanks, ya the engine reads t112 but it is a 25 inch head could this be a casting mistake? I just picked up a shop manual to the other day it's great. I plan on just driving the truck so maybe I will leave it 6 volt. I've read that a few guys swapped rear axles with jeep Cherokees is this my best option for a 1 ton ?
