Ernie Baily Posted March 27, 2011 Report Posted March 27, 2011 Hello Everybody, Here is some old pictures of Plymouths my Dad had and the first 46 Plymouth Coupe I helped my Dad with. We put a 331 Hemi in it with the Fluid Drive behind it. Dad would love to pull in to a gas station and ask the attendant to check the oil and watch the look on the attendants face expecting to see a flathead six and find the big 331 with a 4bbl carb in it! Dad used to buy and fix old cars to sell and make extra money for the family. This pic of a $50 Ply was the result of Dad dragging 3 46-48 Plys home, listen to Mom say "What are you doing with these junk cars?" He had a house painter buddy paint the car with house paint left over from a construction site. It was supposed to be white but turned out to be a cream color. He painted the wheels Red and later got some "Spinners" hubcaps and then it beame the second car Dad drove to work. Ernie Quote

Don Coatney Posted March 27, 2011 Report Posted March 27, 2011 Good pictures. Reminded me of my scouting days. My family did not have enough spare coinage to buy me a full uniform (my mom made me mad because she called them costumes not uniforms) so like the boys in the picture I only wore what I owned. A shirt and scarf. Now that I think about it my mom also called the clothes I wore in the Army costumes. She was very old school. Quote

My Grandmother called bathing suits "swimming costumes" as well...I laughed every time she said it. She was born in Sunderland in England. I only had the shirt and scarf for Cubs and Scouts as well.
