I've been looking for one of those too. Can't find a 3/8" J bolt long enough anywhere. I'm probably going to get a piece of threaded rod, cut it to the proper length, heat it up and bend my own "J" at the bottom. I'm a lot more worried about the battery falling than the OEM look. Besides, the battery hold down I have is definatly not OEM.

I got mine at Ace Hardware. I don't know if the UK has them.

I haven't had a battery hold down since getting the car in 1973.

The cables have kept it in place and can't recall it ever being a

problem. The original tray is there, in fair condition.

I haven't had the engine side one since I got mine either. Just had the fender side one and the more you tightened it, the higher the other side of the hold down went. Mine fell once, but didn't hurt anything but was only about 1/8 from hitting the fan. Since then I've got it wired to the fender side bolt.

I just had someone at work fabricate a new hold down for me, so now I'm going to need an inner bolt again.

These are sold by PRo Quest Maintenance Supply thru their website for

$3.65. 10" long. Don't know what length you need.

Can Google for other sellers or watch ebay.

Or make your own.

Thanks Bob,

I'm planning on using a battery that's only about 8 inches high, and I think I've found a suitable j-hook on ebay.

If I need a longer version, I now know where to go, so I appreciate your help.

All the best.

Robin.
