To polarize a generator, is it battery/arm, or battery/field. Two books, two ways, to confusing.

Also;

My generator is a 35 amp. My voltage regulator is a 45 amp. A friend told me this was no big deal, as long as the regulator is rated higher. Anyone know ?

Thanks.

Battery to armature, just a flash. I think your regulator should be equal or lesser than the generator. Otherwise it will it will allow the generator to exceed its limit.

Call and ask Dressler's Electric in Lewisberry, PA. He is a expert on these generators and has been testing/rebuilding and rewiring cars for many many years. Look it up on the internet cause I don't have his number right now.

Ok, I probably shouldn't be posting this, since this is just my own logic. I don't think that you would want a regulator that is adjusted to get more out of a generator than it is rated for. I think that would be ruinous to the generator. Somebody out there,,,,,, HELP.
