jchalk1949 Posted March 16, 2011 Report Posted March 16, 2011 To polarize a generator, is it battery/arm, or battery/field. Two books, two ways, to confusing. Also; My generator is a 35 amp. My voltage regulator is a 45 amp. A friend told me this was no big deal, as long as the regulator is rated higher. Anyone know ? Thanks. Quote
Niel Hoback Posted March 16, 2011 Report Posted March 16, 2011 Battery to armature, just a flash. I think your regulator should be equal or lesser than the generator. Otherwise it will it will allow the generator to exceed its limit. Quote
wizard12 Posted March 16, 2011 Report Posted March 16, 2011 Call and ask Dressler's Electric in Lewisberry, PA. He is a expert on these generators and has been testing/rebuilding and rewiring cars for many many years. Look it up on the internet cause I don't have his number right now. Wizard Quote
Niel Hoback Posted March 16, 2011 Report Posted March 16, 2011 Ok, I probably shouldn't be posting this, since this is just my own logic. I don't think that you would want a regulator that is adjusted to get more out of a generator than it is rated for. I think that would be ruinous to the generator. Somebody out there,,,,,, HELP.
