oldcarlover Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 Does anyone know where I can get good quality outside clip on mount outside mirrors for my 36 coupe. I tried Birnbaum. The mount where the set screws are interfering with door closing. Quote
Reg Evans Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 (edited) I have that style of mirror on my 35,38,42 Dodges and my 49 Plymouth Suburban. Got them all on eBay though so not sure if they are exactly like Bernbaums. They work great. Roberts has them for $16 ea. http://www.robertsmotorparts.com/truck_parts.asp?Action=search&c=Trucks+%2D+Accessories%2C+Miscellaneous+%26+Chemicals Edited January 26, 2011 by Reg Evans Quote
blucarsdn Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 On most of the '30 model cars the doors fit to tight to the A pillar for a clamp on type rear view mirror. ChryCo and Ford both used "hinge pin" mirrors. i.e. the upper hinge pin is removed and replaced with a longer pin that secures a rear view mirror to the top of the hinge. Most hinge pin mirrors are very pricey, running in the hundreds of dollars. A neat trick is to use a Volks Wagon bug mirror... The VW arm is shorter than the normal Ford type hinge pin mirror. For my '39 Plym conv cpe I made a bracket that attaches where the wind wings would have bolted on.. Many people think the bracket I made is a standard ChyCo accessory. I made a smaller mounting plate for a friend of mine, that way we could use the after market "Swan" type of mirror on his coupe....Bill Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted January 27, 2011 Report Posted January 27, 2011 I don't recall the brand of mirror, but Robin in London has a nice set that actually attach to the door, not clamp on the edge. I believe he's happy with that kind. Quote
