BeBop138
Been doing some brain storming with a friend who has all the Tools. We have come up with a double pulley for the crank on the big blocks. This is for the PS and Cavalier rack. He did the fabricating on the bracket and pulleys. The lower pulleys are small block Chev---with creative re-drilling and taking 60 thou off the flange face the pulleys fit well. A 60 thou spacer for the water pump and the fan lines up with the rest. Clearances for the belts are close--1/8 inch. They are very close to the motor mount---if need be they will be notched slightly and reinforced on the back side. The pics show the belts lining up wrong---when the pump and alt are in the correct position and the correct belts used, things look fine. Debating on remote fluid fill. These are the rough pics and a little more massaging should be in order. Updates soon.......Lee
BeBop138
More on the pulleys---my buddy sure knows how to fabricate, the bracket is mounted on the head bolts--bolt on center of block, used for the ground strap and the old genny bracket bolts. If you were disconnect your PS hoses, alt wiring, belts and removed the bracket mounting bolts the whole unit can be removed as one piece. The crank flange was finally turned down 80 thou to compensate for the pulleys and dust cover. A 5/16 spacer was used behind the fan pulley to adjust the belt alignment. The remote fill came off a Toyota, the pump from a 90`s Grand AM. The bracket looks great. It`s nice to have a Bridgeport and lathe. As before if the belts hit the front motor mount we will notch them to fit. The double pulleys for the crank have been a problem, as far as I know this hasn`t been done---I hope this helps. The old single pulley was set back towards the engine about a 1/4 inch---the chev lower crank pulleys were put back to back and the offset moved the pulleys foward the 1/4 inch---more final tweeking, paint and assembly---more pics of the finals latter...................Thanks......Lee:D

Don Coatney
Looks very good! On my P-15 one issue I had was clearance between the battery box and alternator. That is why I had to add a couple of ears to my alternator bracket to reposition the belt tensioning angle. May be different on your car. BeBop138
going to try and install this weekend---with the crank flange removal there will be more work involved----hope it all fits.........Lee
BeBop138
Update on install--had to change the alt. belt to one size smaller and notch the battery shelf. I feel the spacer on the water pump needs to be 1/8 inch smaller so the belt lines up better. The motor mount will need to notched as I suspected for clearance. The right center belt from the PS pump will need to be cut just the depth of the metal and a patch put on the back side. The other PS belt area needs to be notched about 1 inch wide and 1/2 deep. Then I will put a piece on channel behind that to reinforce it. If the mount itself didn`t have a slight forward stance everything would clear as is. The other problem may be the fan might hit the radiator---small issue as moving it back shouldn`t be a problem............more later............Lee
Don Coatney
Will you be able to replace the belts without jacking up the engine?
BeBop138
Will you be able to replace the belts without jacking up the engine? Don, no problem---there is plenty of room for movement on the adjusting bars---look at the pics close.........

BeBop138
As I stated in the last post, the motor mount will need to be notched---here is a pic of the piece before paint. I hope I measured correctly:eek: More pics when it`s in later............Lee

BeBop138
Here is the finished notched bracket installed on the car---this weekend I will put the radiator in and see if the fan clears----I only shimmed the fan out 3/16. Getting closer to being done:)............Lee

aero3113
Just needed to notch it for belt clearance if that`s what you mean? I ment to say is the rubber motor mount going to come into play?
BeBop138
I ment to say is the rubber motor mount going to come into play?No---the rubber mount won`t be a issue for any clearance for the belts. The metal mount tends to go forward some and the problem with the belts were more of a issue nearer the frame---as the last pics show I have plenty of room now..............Thanks......Lee

hkestes41
I have a stock Mopar double crank pully on a 57 model 230 with A/C that will be going into my 48 Coupe. Problem is that with the factory A/C there is an offset water pump that drops the pulley on the pump down to where the top of the 48 motor mount bolts to the engine. So, I will either have to make some major mods to the stock 48 motor mount or make some new frame mounts to use the 57 side mounts. Not sure what I am going to do yet. BeBop138
41, all that stuff is really BIG, I would go with some more modern air set up. Good luck with your project---keep us posted.......Lee

BeBop138
Well, the radiator fit in the stock position with about a 1/4 clearance. Finished painting the bracket and will finish the PS pump tomorrow.Hope to have it all back together in a couple of days. Some pics of the fan clearance and the custom bracket for all of it. After this it goes out to the guy who made the bracket to install the power rack..........whew!! Lee

hkestes41
41--that upper pulley looks like a saw blade for cutting Big logs---wow:D Yeah that pulley and compressor are HEAVVVVVVY, 42.8 pounds. Will have to do some rework on the bracket as it bolts to the top of the head like yours does and I will be installing a new finned head at the same time. May have to come up with something totally different and just sell the bracket/compressor and "saw blade" to someone over on the forward look site. Build a bracket like mine and make it for the compressor instead of the PS---use the pulleys from a earlier 230 that maybe smaller and easier to work with-----just thoughts........Lee
