Cpt.Fred Posted September 7, 2010 Report Posted September 7, 2010 my newest theory about the source of my brake troubles is, that the weak hardware inside the drums (retaining springs and such) in combination with the brand new bottom valve of the new master cylinder could be responsible for the pressure build up inside the brake lines. this ends up in a lock up up when the brakes are used in a quick succession, like inner city traffic with a lot of stop and go. i have changed every part and hose and so on, and this is my last idea so far, because a fello P11 owner here told me about the same problems on his car, and another guy owning a P15 said he got rid of his bottom valve completely and the problems were gone. i haven't found a parts dealer yet who sells new reatin springs for the P10 brake system. does anyone know an adress where i could get them? what do you think about my theory? thanks, fred Quote
randroid Posted September 7, 2010 Report Posted September 7, 2010 Fred, I've seen those parts listed with Burnbaum and a few others, and while I've not ordered from them the parts are available. I had a '48 Furd truck that had the same problem and it drove me up a wall until a friend had me bleed the freshly-rebuilt MC. You might try that before you start making internal modifications that are mostly a guess on someone else's part. -Randy Quote
Cpt.Fred Posted September 7, 2010 Author Report Posted September 7, 2010 randy, what do you mean with bleed? bleed the brakes once more? i have done that about 10 times over the last year, also dis-and reassembled everything several times. i don't know what to do any more, other than what i wrote above. frustration... bernbaum doesn't have the parts, or so they told me. only post-war cars. fred Quote
